The only criterion for joining is a desire to sing

  • No Auditions
  • You don’t have to read musicĀ
  • Songs are taught at rehearsals

What happens at choir?

We practice from 7.30-9.30pm (with a mid-evening break at about 8:30pm) every Monday evening during school terms.

After physical and voice warm ups our Musical Director coaches us in vocal technique, helps us learn our parts and polishes our singing ready for performance. She is supported by an accompanist who plays our parts on the piano during rehearsals.

What to bring

Bring a soft pencil (2B), a water bottle, and the music you were given when you started.

Each week a different section brings supper to share. Tea, coffee and Milo are supplied by the choir. BYO mug.

Due to Covid restrictions we don’t have access to make hot drinks or prepare food. We have a break mid-evening but, until restrictions are eased, we get along with with water bottles and talking.

Anything else?

  • Twice a year we schedule a weekend workshop to offer a different musical experience and to focus on performance pieces
  • Twice a year we put on a concert where we perform our music.
  • We also take part in various community choral activities as they arise.

How Much does it cost?

Choir fees are $180/semester and are due at the beginning of each semester. This works out to about $9/week. Members who are able are encouraged to pay $200/semester.
